DSISD campuses welcomed 8,800 students on Wednesday for the first day of the 2025–26 school year! We also celebrated the opening of Wildwood Springs Elementary, our sixth elementary campus, as it welcomed students for its very first day of classes.

🐾CONVOCATION 2025 🥳
DSISD kicked off the 2025-26 school year in style on August 8 with Convocation 2025, bringing together nearly 1,200 employees for a morning of celebration, connection and inspiration!
The event featured live music by the Cunningham Sisters and performances by the DSHS cheer squad, Hi-Steppers, and Tiger Band drumline. Making a memorable debut, the Wildwood Springs Elementary staff claimed the coveted spirit stick during Campus Roll Call.
Employees were also treated to breakfast, games, door prizes and motivational messages to set the tone for a fantastic year ahead!

On Wednesday, DSISD and Sycamore Springs Middle School celebrated the grand opening of the SSMS expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new student entrance! 🎉
The project—part of DSISD’s 2023 bond program—was designed to increase the school’s capacity from 850 to 1,200 students to accommodate the growing campus, which currently serves 1,077 students. The project also included a cafeteria expansion, which was completed last fall.
A special thank you to the SSMS students who participated in the event and helped make the celebration even more meaningful!
