DSISD staff came together Friday morning for our annual Convocation to kickoff the 2024-25 school year, featuring live music, student performances, door prizes, games, breakfast, and more! Dripping Springs High School welcomed freshmen and new students yesterday for the new student orientation, ROAR. Students toured the campus, met administrators, learned more about student organizations, and more!
On Saturday, approximately 100 Dripping Springs High School seniors participated in a college application boot camp organized by the DSHS Counseling Department. Seniors received information regarding the application and admissions processes, and had the opportunity to have their application essays reviewed by staff.
The application window for Community Advisory Committees is NOW OPEN until August 30. Community Advisory Committees serve an important role for the district by helping DSISD stay connected with its stakeholders and giving parents and community members the opportunity to participate in our processes and programs. This morning, DSISD welcomed around 100 employees for the two-day New Staff Orientation at Dripping Springs High School. Staff hear from district leaders, learn more about the district and participate in professional development. We're excited to have you joining Tiger Nation!
Dripping Springs High School graduate Josh Malcom (Class of 2020) is spending part of his summer in France for the Paris 2024 Olympics! Malcom is currently a Sport Operations Specialist for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), and has been in Paris since mid-July helping members from Nike outfit Team USA athletes for the opening and closing ceremonies! In May, he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a triple major in management, marketing and international business with concentrations in sports and nonprofit management.
Rising Dripping Springs High School senior pitcher Cooper Rummel was one of 20 players to be selected to the 2024 USA Baseball 18U National Team, the organization announced this week! Rummel and Team USA will compete in the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier in Panama City, Panama, from August 2-11. As a junior, Rummel was named District 26-6A Co-Pitcher of the Year with a 9-1 record and 0.87 ERA. He finished with 88 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings on the mound.

The DSISD Board of Trustees held its annual retreat at the Center for Learning & Leadership on Monday where they discussed a number of key district initiatives, governance, goals for the 2024-25 school year, 10-year planning, budgeting, and future campus needs.
On Friday, July 26, first responders from various Hays County agencies will participate in an active shooter response exercise at Cypress Springs Elementary. This will be a coordinated event among the Hays County Sheriff's Office, Hays County Constable's Office, North Hays County Fire Department, and DSISD security personnel. Citizens can expect a heavy presence of first-responder vehicles around the CSE campus. Nearby residents may hear sirens and simulated gunshots from recordings to create a realistic training environment.

Skyward will undergo scheduled maintenance starting at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, and it is expected to be completed by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18. Skyward Student, Educator Access, Family Access, and New Student Online Registration will be unavailable during this time.
Last Wednesday, DSISD welcomed DSHS alumni, former staff, and community members for a special Open House at the Center for Learning & Leadership, the renovated DSISD administration building and Child Development Center. Guests toured the building, which showcases numerous historical items that have been preserved and are now on display, and visited with district leaders and the Board of Trustees.
The DSISD Technology Department will load a necessary Skyward update beginning at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11. The update is expected to be completed by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. Skyward Student, Educator Access, Family Access, Employee Access, True Time, HR, and Skyward Business will be unavailable during that time.
Congratulations to DSISD employee and Dripping Springs Century News writer Carl Waits on being named the Texas Girls Coaches Association Division II Sportswriter of the Year! Waits has covered Tiger athletics for the Dripping Springs Century News for the last 34 years. He has spent 59 years with DSISD, serving 30 years as a teacher and coach and 29 years as a bus driver.

The Dripping Springs Education Foundation presented a check to DSISD in the amount of $417,541.99 at the June 24 board meeting! The check will support Student Leadership Grants, Innovative Teaching Grants, and salaries for three licensed mental health professionals and a staff wellness counselor.
