Hello Sycamore Springs Families,

My name is Cody Spraberry, and I am the proud principal of Sycamore Springs Elementary! The opportunity to serve the community that I live in is a blessing and a responsibility I hold dear. I look forward to partnering with our students, staff, and families to lead MORE, create MORE, inspire MORE, and become MORE. 

My wife, Carly, and I have two kids in DSISD: Sylar and Knox. We also have two spoiled dogs: Roo and Tilly. If we're not chasing our dogs or cheering on our kids at the soccer/football fields, we're hanging out at Reimers Ranch and Cypress Falls. I'm a huge fan of live music, the outdoors, exercising, and finding new spots for breakfast tacos.

I come to SSES after having been the principal of Forest Trail Elementary, and before that, the assistant principal at Hill Elementary. In my time in education, I have found the following to be true:  

I believe that:

• Learning is a lifelong process, and children are teachers and learners.

• Children and adults learn best in a safe, nurturing environment based on honesty, dignity, trust, and respect.

• Learning can be fun and goes beyond the classroom.

• Risk-taking is a valued part of the learning experience.

• Collaboration, mutual respect, and professionalism among students, staff, and parents are essential to quality education.

Hi Sycamore Springs Elementary Families and Community!

I am so thrilled to have this opportunity as an Assistant Principal to join a school community where success is the only option!  

I grew up in Wyoming and received a volleyball scholarship to play at George Fox University in Oregon.  I was a Physical Ed. teacher for 18 years in Colorado before earning two Master's degrees - one in Athletic Director and the other in Instructional Leadership. I have been in leadership for 9 years now and am truly loving the opportunity to wrap my arms around staff, students and the community!

I wholeheartedly believe that ALL students can learn at high levels and it is my goal that SSES students will continue to receive a high quality education in an environment that is safe and nurturing every day!  I am committed to partner with you, our staff and the community to support our SSES students in reaching their full potential!  Sycamore Springs says it best with;  lead MORE, create MORE, inspire MORE, and become MORE. 

I am so excited to meet all of you and your precious little ones!  Know they are in good hands with a dedicated staff!  My door is always open!  Feel free to stop by with questions, just to say ‘Hi’, drop off some chocolate or even if you have concerns!  We will partner with you... because together we are MORE!
