FIRST LEGO League Challenge is a robotics program that is designed to get children excited about science and technology -- and teach them valuable employment and life skills. In FLL, teams learn both through what we do (the Robot Game and the Project) and how we do it (the FLL Core Values). Through the Robot Game, teams build and program an autonomous robot using LEGO ROBOTICS technology to score points in 2.5-minute matches on a themed playing field. Through the Project, teams explore an actual problem that today’s scientists and engineers are trying to solve, develop an innovative solution to that problem (either by creating something that doesn’t exist or building upon something that does), and share their findings with others. Throughout their work on the Robot Game and the Project, teams are guided by the FLL Core Values to build teamwork skills and make this a great experience for everyone involved.
This is a free weekly program and not associated with other after-school programs in the district. We will accept applications (Click here) through September 22nd, closing at 4 PM. Due to the requirements asked of the students participating, it is hard to have students join past this date.
Registration for Kids College Classes is now open -Register here
Key PTA information:
PTA Membership Meeting: Please join us next week on September 9th at 8:15 in the Cafeteria for the first PTA Member meeting of the 2025-2026 school year. Come hear about initiatives for the year and ways to get involved. All are welcome; only members can vote. If you haven’t joined us yet, click here! $12 affirms your annual support in the PTA mission.
Class Shirts: LAST CALL! The store closes tomorrow, September 5th. The Rooster Springs class T-shirts have a brand new design - $15. House shirts are worn for Friday RISE Rallies as well as on class field trips. A crewneck sweatshirt ($30) is another great way to represent RSE! Order today at Spiritworx.com online store #19670 to have your child’s shirt delivered to school at the end of the month. Your assigned class color will auto-populate based on your grade and teacher selections. And yes, if you have a retro Rooster Springs shirt, they will still work great on color days.
Art Appreciation: If you would like to spend some time volunteering in your child's classroom, art appreciation is a great opportunity! The PTA plans the art activity and provides instructions to share with the class. All you need to do is help the kids execute during their 30-minute time slot! The PTA is hosting the first Art Appreciation of the year, featuring bubbles, September 9-11. Visit the PTA website to sign up.
Learning Garden: The Learning Garden needs many hands to make it a success! Each classroom needs 2-3 parent volunteers to execute the lesson plans shared by the garden leadership team. Zero garden experience is required, and the time commitment is 1-2 times a month for ~1 hour. Join us and spend time with your child and their classmates in the Learning Garden! Email: learninggarden@rsespta.org
Rooster Springs Running Club: Are you ready? Join us tomorrow, September 5, at 7:00-7:30 AM. The PTA Healthy Lifestyles chair is leading a running club before school on the first Friday of each month. Adults and kids are welcome! Lace up your running (or walking) shoes and meet Morgan near the gate leading to the track from the teacher parking lot. Please park in the side lot if you drive to school for Rooster Runners.
Yearbook Personalization: Are you planning to add your student’s name to the cover of their yearbook? Don’t miss this deal to add up to 4 free icons to yearbook personalization. Yearbooks are on sale now for $30 for a limited time only. Reserve your copy today at Jostens.com
Garden Newsletter: Have you ever wondered about what goes on in the Learning Garden? Volunteers meet classes at regularly scheduled times to plant, grow crops, and learn about nature! This year, the Learning Garden Committee will be sharing monthly newsletters with lesson ideas and garden tips. These lessons will guide the team of volunteers. Not a garden volunteer? You can use the newsletter to start discussions with your students about what they’re doing in the garden.
Volunteer Opportunities: The PTA-school partnership creates volunteer opportunities that fit your schedule. Committees are forming. Fill out the Volunteer Interest Form to let us know what interests you and how to reach you. *Please fill out an interest form for each adult interested in helping this year.
RSE Merch Mondays: Visit the PTA-sponsored RSE Store in front of the school from 2:30- 2:55 pm on Mondays. New styles are coming soon, and the current styles are selling out fast! Get your t-shirts, hats, and dishwasher-safe water bottle stickers while they last! *We pack up by 2:55p p.m. to clear out for dismissal.
