The Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees voted to name the district’s second comprehensive high school, Driftwood Springs High School, in a 6-1 vote at the May 18 meeting.
The name Driftwood Springs continues DSISD’s longstanding tradition of including the word “springs” in school names. Driftwood Springs was a popular write-in on the community survey and was one of five recommended names by the community-based Naming & Branding Committee. Driftwood Springs High School will be the district’s second campus located in Driftwood and its 10th campus overall. The school will have a capacity of 2,500 students and is projected to open for the 2028-29 school year.
In addition to the approximately 506,000-square-foot main building, the campus will include baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, two practice fields, a band practice lot, an agriculture barn, and a sub-varsity competition stadium.
The district plans to announce the school’s color and mascot in the fall.
