Dripping Springs Elementary is proudly implementing the One-Way Gomez and Gomez Dual Language Enrichment Model in our Bilingual Program. This model is being implemented in Pre-K through 5th grade. 

Our District implements the dual language program due to:

• The importance of students learning in their first language so that they learn grade-level content & skills while "adding/developing" their second language through content and transferring these skills to their second language, thereby closing the English academic achievement gap as they continue in school at the secondary level.

• The national and state-level research and data that supports the statement that "long-term academic English achievement is largely based on the extent and quality of first language schooling".

• The characteristics and benefits of dual language enrichment education and the key features of the Gomez & Gomez Dual Language Enrichment Model.

EL PROGRAMA BILINGÜE DE DSE

En Dripping Springs Elementary estamos implementando con orgullo el Modelo de Enriquecimiento de Idioma Dual Gomez y Gomez como parte de nuestro programa bilingüe. Este modelo se está otorgando en los grados Prekínder a 5 °.

• La importancia de que los estudiantes aprendan en su primer idioma, para así poder aprender el contenido y las habilidades al nivel de su grado escolar mientras "añaden y desarrollan" un segundo idioma por medio del contenido y transfieren estas habilidades al segundo idioma, por medio de lo cual logran cerrar la brecha de rendimiento en inglés al continuar en la escuela (secundaria).

• Las investigaciones y datos nacionales y estatales que apoyan la declaración de que “El logro académico de inglés a largo plazo, está en gran medida basado en el alcance y la calidad del primer idioma en la escuela.”

• Las características y beneficios de una educación de enriquecimiento de idioma dual, y las características del Modelo de Enriquecimiento de Idioma Dual Gómez y Gómez.
