2026 DSISD tax rate approved

The Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the District’s 2026 tax rate at the September 28 meeting. DSISD’s 2026 tax rate of $1.0985 per $100 of assessed property value is a decrease from last year’s rate of $1.1052. The rate has decreased by more than 42 cents since 2018.

The district’s tax rate is divided into two parts: $0.7485 for Maintenance and Operations and $0.35 for Interest and Sinking. The Maintenance and Operations (M&O) portion covers district operating costs, such as salaries and benefits, utility bills, and supplies, and is subject to recapture. The Interest and Sinking (I&S) rate generates revenue that can only be used to pay off voter-approved debt.

In 2026, the average taxable value of a DSISD residence is $562,547, with an estimated school district property tax bill of $6,179.58. Property tax bills are based on both the tax rate and the property value. Therefore, a property owner’s tax bill could increase even when the tax rate remains the same or decreases.

In June, the DSISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a $104.8 million General Fund budget, less recapture. The budget allocates 84 percent of expenditures to payroll for nearly 1,300 district employees. The remaining 16 percent of the budget supports classroom supplies, utilities, professional development, transportation, safety, travel, and contracted services.
