Dripping Springs ISD Superintendent Dr. Holly Morris-Kuentz has announced the promotion of Assistant Superintendent for Learning & Innovation Dr. Karen Kidd to Deputy Superintendent.
An educator with more than two decades of experience, Dr. Kidd has served as DSISD’s Assistant Superintendent for Learning & Innovation for the past six years. During her tenure, she has played a key role in building the academic systems needed to ensure high-quality outcomes for students as a fast-growth district. She has spent nearly 17 years as a campus and central office administrator overseeing curriculum, accountability, assessment, and professional learning.
As Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Kidd will continue to lead the district’s academic programs, including oversight of campus principals and a newly created Chief Academic Officer (CAO) position.
As a strategic cost-saving measure, DSISD will repurpose the Assistant Superintendent for Learning & Innovation position vacated by Dr. Kidd into a Chief Academic Officer role, which will lead the district’s academic programs, curriculum, and instructional strategy, assisting in DSISD’s mission to provide a personal and exceptional education to every student in DSISD.
Maureen Jamail, who announced her retirement in May as Walnut Springs Elementary principal, will serve as Interim Chief Academic Officer as the district begins its search for a new CAO. Mrs. Jamail has been with DSISD for 21 years, most recently serving four years as WSE principal. A strong academic leader, her successful career in public education includes valuable experience at the elementary and secondary levels.
Dr. Kidd and Mrs. Jamail will begin serving in their new roles immediately.
