The Dripping Springs High School Tiger Baseball team advanced to the UIL 6A Division II state semifinals for the second consecutive season following a 7-2 victory over Pharr-San Juan-Alamo in a decisive Game 3 of the regional finals on Saturday, May 23, at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi.
With the win, the Tigers eliminated PSJA from the playoffs for the second straight year and secured back-to-back state semifinal appearances for the first time in program history. Dripping Springs also set a new program record for wins in a season, improving to 31-11-1 on the year.
After falling 6-1 in the series opener, the Tigers responded with an 11-0 shutout victory behind a five-inning no-hit performance from Blake Cox in Game 2 to force a winner-take-all Game 3.
Dripping Springs will face Houston Memorial (32-6) in the state semifinals in a best-of-three series beginning Thursday, May 28, at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Houston’s Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 p.m., with Game 3, if necessary, set for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
The winner of the series will advance to the UIL 6A Division II state championship game against either Flower Mound Marcus or Tomball on Saturday, June 6, at 4:00 p.m. at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
General admission tickets and parking for Thursday’s game are now available for purchase. Tickets for Game 2 will go on sale on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
