Dripping Springs High School sophomore Izzy Crew captured a state title at the UIL Track & Field State Meet on Friday, May 19, earning a gold medal and setting a new state record in the wheelchair shot put. Her performance also earned her UIL Athlete of the Meet honors for the second consecutive year.
Crew broke the previous state record, set in 2023, by more than a foot with a throw of 21-0.75 on her sixth and final attempt. The mark edged Goliad’s Ava Soliz by three inches to secure the state championship.
In addition to her shot put title, Crew earned silver medals in the 100-meter and 400-meter races with times of 18.54 and 1:09.63, respectively.
In 2025, Crew became the first Tiger athlete to compete in the Wheelchair Division at the UIL State Meet, earning gold in the 400 meters and silver in the 100 meters and shot put.
