Dripping Springs High School senior wrestler Jackson Shipley capped a remarkable 47-1 season by capturing his second consecutive UIL state championship on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the UIL Wrestling State Tournament at the Berry Center in Houston.
Competing in the 120-pound division, Shipley opened the tournament in commanding fashion with 19-4 and 17-2 victories to advance to the state semifinals. There, he avenged his only loss of the season with a hard-fought 5-3 win over Allen’s Oliver Pulliam. Shipley carried that momentum into the championship match, overpowering Lake Travis’ James Murray in a 19-3 technical fall to secure the title.
With the victory, Shipley became just the third Tiger wrestler to win multiple state championships, joining Luke Hodsden (2015, 2016) and Chase Warden (2019, 2020). He finished his career as a three-time state placer, earning runner-up honors in the 106-pound class in 2024 and winning the 113-pound state title in 2025.
In the girls state tournament, sophomore Lucy Clarno capped a 32-2 season with her second consecutive podium finish, placing fourth in the 126-pound weight class.
