UIL 2026-28 Realignment

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) announced district alignments for football, volleyball, and basketball for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years on Monday, February 2.

Dripping Springs High School will remain classified as a 6A campus for the third consecutive realignment cycle. The school reported an enrollment of 2,622 students in October, an increase of 138 students since the previous UIL realignment.

Beginning in August 2026, Dripping Springs will compete in District 26-6A alongside a mix of familiar opponents and new competitors. Austin High, Austin Akins, Austin Bowie, and Del Valle will remain in the district, while Buda Hays and Buda Johnson will join District 26-6A, replacing Austin Westlake and Lake Travis, which moved to District 25.

The Tigers previously competed in the same district as Buda Johnson from 2020–24 and were last district foes with Buda Hays from 1976–78.

Conference 6A includes 249 high schools competing in football and basketball and 247 schools in volleyball, all with enrollments of at least 2,215 students.

Additional athletic and academic district alignments will be released no later than April 2026. More realignment information can be found here.
