The Dripping Springs High School wrestling teams delivered dominant performances at the District 14-6A Championships on Thursday at the Delco Center in Austin, capturing both the boys and girls team titles.
The girls team secured its second consecutive district championship—and just the third in program history—behind eight individual district champions and 244 team points, finishing 106 points ahead of second-place Austin Bowie. All 14 Dripping Springs competitors qualified for the Region IV-6A Championships, with the Tigers also earning two runner-up finishes and four bronze medals.
District champions for the Tigers were Leah Legorreta (110 lbs), Brandilynne Lobash (115), Lucy Clarno (125), Estrella Rios Galindo (135), Rasanie Ly (145), Audrina Flores (155), Kinsey Belote (190) and Layla Drummond (235).
The boys team captured its eighth district title in the last 10 years, totaling 257.5 points behind seven district champions and three runner-up finishes. All 13 wrestlers advanced to regionals by placing in the top four of their respective weight classes, including two third-place finishes and one fourth-place finish.
District champions for the boys were Jackson Shipley (120), Charlie Lundin (138), Joseph Austin (144), Isaiah Ellis (150), Tucker Lundin (157), Caleb Collins (165), and Davis Tejada (215).
Joe Kirksey was named the District 14-6A Coach of the Year for the boys and the girls. The Tigers will compete at the Region IV-6A Championships on Feb. 6–7 at the Delco Center in Austin.
