The Dripping Springs High School swim program qualified 17 athletes for the Region VII-6A Championships after strong performances at the District 26-6A Championships on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Round Rock ISD Aquatics Center. The girls team finished as district runner-up, while the boys placed fourth overall.
The girls squad totaled 131 team points, finishing 17 points behind Westlake, and qualified 10 swimmers for regionals. Dripping Springs recorded 11 top-three finishes, including seven runner-up performances. Laurel Hoskovec placed second in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle, while Fairlane Bynum earned silver in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. Izzy Boldrick also claimed second place in the 200 IM.
In relay events, Hoskovec and Bynum teamed with Charlotte Riffel and Lexi Landrum for a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Riffel, Landrum, Boldrick and Hoskovec also finished second.
Boldrick (100 backstroke), Landrum (100 freestyle) and Riffel (200 freestyle) added third-place individual finishes. The 200-yard medley relay team of Sidney Blake, Aubrey McLean, Bynum and Boldrick also earned a third-place podium finish.
On the boys side, Zach Collins led the Tigers with district championships in the 50-yard freestyle (21.44) and 100-yard freestyle (46.06). Collins also joined Harrison Woolard, Chasyn Jones and Noah Beers on the 200-yard freestyle relay team, which finished third. The boys team totaled 68 points, finishing behind Westlake, Lake Travis and Austin Bowie.
The Region VII-6A Championships will be held Feb. 6–7 at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.
