Dripping Springs High School senior Wes Anderson qualified for the UIL State Cross Country Meet on Tuesday, October 21, after finishing 16th out of 178 runners at the Region IV-6A Cross Country Meet in Corpus Christi.
Anderson is the first male runner from Dripping Springs to advance to the state competition since Caleb Lopez in 2020, and the first ever to qualify for the 6A race.
He completed the five-kilometer course in 16:22.23, averaging 5:17 per mile.
Junior Callie Schumacher also competed at the regional meet, placing 26th with a time of 19:26.26.
Anderson will race at the UIL State Meet on Saturday, November 1, at 10:10 a.m. at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
