The Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Alex Salazar as the district’s new Director of Finance at the June 23 meeting. Salazar brings nearly 10 years of experience in public school finance, having served as Budget Director at nearby Hays Consolidated ISD since 2016.
With a strong track record in financial planning, budgeting and operational efficiency, Salazar helped lead the financial strategy and fiscal operations for a $200 million budget supporting over 24,000 students and 3,000 employees. He developed and implemented financial policies to optimize expenditures and maintain compliance while monitoring financial performance and analyzing revenue and expenditure trends. Additionally, Salazar provided financial leadership and professional development to department directors and senior leadership, enhancing financial literacy and operational decision-making.
As the Director of Finance, Salazar will manage and coordinate the preparation, presentation and adoption of DSISD’s annual budget as well as oversee the financial management of the district’s federal and state grant programs and the accounting operations.
Salazar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Texas State University.
He will begin his new role in July.
