McKenna King

Dripping Springs High School Principal Angela Gamez is thrilled to announce the appointment of McKenna King as the school’s new Choir Director.

King joins Dripping Springs ISD after two years as a graduate assistant at The University of Texas at Austin’s Butler School of Music, where she earned her Master’s degree in Choral Conducting. During her time there, she served as Associate Conductor for the University Treble Chorus and the Treble Chamber Choir. She also performed and traveled throughout Texas with The University of Texas Concert Chorale.

Prior to pursuing a master’s, King spent two years as the Choir Director and piano teacher for Bastrop Middle School. While in Bastrop, she led the choir to their first superior rating at the state contest and established an advanced treble choir. In addition, she taught more than 150 piano students in both private and small group settings.

Most recently, King has served as Director of Music at Shepherd of the Hills Christian Church and as Children’s Choir Director at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church in Austin. In addition, she directed Concordia, a group of 10- to 17-year-olds in the Austin Children’s Chorus.

A familiar face in Dripping Springs, King also spent three years as an assistant coach for the Dripping Springs High School girls’ lacrosse program.

King holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and is a certified music teacher.
