The Dripping Springs High School Tiger Softball team advanced to the state semifinals on Saturday, May 17, following an 8-1 win over Round Rock Cedar Ridge in a decisive game 3 of the regional finals at Concordia University.
The Tigers claimed game one of the series on Thursday, with senior Jai-Lynn Flores driving in two runs in a thrilling 4-3 win in eight innings. Following a 6-1 setback on Friday, Dripping Springs bounced back with a dominant performance on Saturday. Senior Taylor Crain and sophomore Lorelei Gamble accounted for half of the team’s hits, while freshman Sadie Bradford shut down the Raiders offense by limiting them to just three hits.
Dripping Springs will now face Humble Kingwood in the state semifinals. The best-of-three series begins Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Caldwell High School, with game 2 scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. If necessary, game 3 will be played Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
The Tigers hold a 31-9-1 record after securing their seventh consecutive district title. Kingwood enters the semifinals at 32-4-1, having claimed a share of the District 23-6A championship.
Tickets are $10 (plus processing fee) and can be purchased online. Children under 5 and senior citizens receive free admission. Due to limited seating, spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
