Kathy Cornett

The Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Kathy Cornett as the district’s new Director of Student Services during its May 19 meeting.

Cornett brings over 20 years of experience in public education and most recently served as principal of Voss Middle School in Boerne ISD for three years. Under her leadership, Voss developed a strong campus culture, with over 90% of staff reporting high morale and a positive environment. Her leadership also led to academic growth across the board, including a 19% increase in sixth-grade reading scores on the STAAR exam from 2022 to 2024. The campus earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency during her tenure.

As Director of Student Services, Cornett will oversee positive behavior systems, discipline management, student attendance, and transfer processes. She will also support the resolution of student and parent concerns and implement systems to support organizational operations focused on student outcomes.

Before her role at Voss, Cornett spent nearly 15 years at Boerne High School as a math teacher, department chair, assistant principal and academic dean. Her career also includes teaching roles at Arlington High School, Judson High School, and The Episcopal School of Texas.

Cornett holds a Bachelor of Science in Math and Chemistry from Texas Lutheran University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Schreiner University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy at The University of Texas at Austin.

She will begin her duties in July.
