The board reviewed the superintendent's search process with representatives from the firm JG Consulting, including timeline, schedules, collection of community input, and development of a leadership profile.




Public Hearing (preview)

Assistant Superintendent for Learning and Innovation Karen Kidd previewed the annual TAPR (Texas Academic Preparation Report) presentation, which references the most recent data compiled by the state in areas such as student performance, student/staff demographics, graduation rate and student discipline incidents. The full report will be shared at the Jan. 25 regular meeting.

Facilities and Operations:
Director of Facilities and Construction Clint Pruett gave an overview of the design process for the conversion of the current Walnut Springs Elementary into the DSISD Administration Building.

In addition, an informal update on custodial staffing was shared.

Business Services:
Chief Financial Officer Cedric Menchion perviewed the annual audit report and its findings. He also discussed policies and procedures as they relate to the auditing process, as well as upcoming training. Mr. Menchion also responded to questions about COVID-related expenses and the CARES Act reimbursement process. Discussion was held on budget parameters, including new positions related to district growth and the openeing of the new elementary school.

Human Resources:
Executive Director of Human Resources Tiffany Duncan referenced the monthly HR report.

Superintendent's Office:
Interim Superintendent Brett Springston referenced his monthly report.

Board of Trustees:
The TASA/TASB Mid-Winter Conference will be conducted virtually.


Action items for the Jan. 25 Board meeting were previewed individually. 


The Board adjourned into closed session to discuss matters permissible by law.
