DSHS In Second Place After Final UIL Lone Star Cup Update

lone star cup logo In the final Lone Star Cup update released by the UIL on June 14, Dripping Springs High School finished in second place in Conference 5A with 92 points. The second place finish is the highest for DSHS since the inaugural year of the Lone Star Cup in 1997-98 when DSHS tied for first in 3A. The Lone Star Cup awards points based on a school's team performance in district and state championships in the following activities: Team Tennis, Cross Country, Marching Band, Volleyball, Robotics BEST, Football, Congress, Spirit, Swimming & Diving, Wrestling, Mariachi, Film, Basketball, Robotics FIRST, Soccer, Academics, One-Act Play, Theatrical Design, Track & Field, Golf, Tennis, Softball, and Baseball.

 

Scoring points for DSHS in 2018-19 were: Volleyball (14), girls' soccer (14), marching band (12 - from 2017-18 competition since state band is held every two years), softball (10), boys' soccer (8), team tennis (8), girls' basketball (8), baseball (6), football (4), academic meet team (4), and boys' basketball (4). The final updated standings will become official on July 1, 2019.
