Five Visual Arts Entries Earn State Medals; One Receives Gold Seal
Five of eight art pieces created by Dripping Springs High School students that were entered in the 2019 VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) state competition earned medals. Earning two medals (one for each of her qualifying pieces) for double all-state recognition was Melissa Richardson; her entries were titles “Greater Is She” and “Roadeo.” Also receiving all-state honors were Katie Hilton, Jade Howe (“Pests”) and Hailey Kirkup (“Stop Trophy Hunting”). Katie's piece, “In Your Face,” won the highest award given at VASE, a coveted Gold Seal. This year, more than 35,000 entries were judged at the state event.
Other DSHS students whose pieces had qualified for the state VASE were Isabelle Avena, Vasi Bjeletich, and Jacob Pederson.
