Ten DSHS tennis players competed at the 5A Region IV tennis tournament at Northeast ISD's Blossom Tennis Center for the right to advance to the state tournament. Finishing second and advancing to the state tournament in girls' doubles was the team of Karley Higgerson and Whitney Robbins. Higgerson and Robbins advanced to the regional championship match, falling to the defending 5A state champion team of Crawley/Wilbur of Alamo Heights. They then defeated Carr/Carr of Calallen in the playback match to secure second place.
Also finishing second and advancing to state was the boys' doubles team of Thane Johannsen and Henry Lovelace. Johannsen and Lovelace lost to eventual regional champions Snelgrove/Schleck of Kerrville Tivy in the semifinals, but defeated Bosquez/Herrera of King HS in the third place match, and then defeated teammates Will Gretzinger and Jeffrey Walker in the playback match to finish in second place.
Finishing in third place at regionals, and serving as alternates to state are girls' singles player Tallulah Andrushko and the boys' doubles team of Gretzinger/Walker.
The state tennis tournament is May 16-17 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center and the Omar Smith Intramural Tennis Center at Texas A&M University.
