Dairy Cattle Evaluation Team Second at State FFA Competition

At the FFA State (CDE) Career Development Event competition, the Dripping Springs High School Dairy Cattle Evaluation team placed second overall. Team members were Faith Baxter, Emily Brown, Skylar Duleba, Caroline Olsen. Individually, Duleba was the third-highest finisher and Baxter finished sixth. In this event, students receive experience in the evaluation of dairy cattle type, production records and dairy herd management. The state competition was held at Tarleton State University April 25.
The Dairy Cattle Evaluation team qualified for the state contest based on its first-place finish at the area FFA Area Career Development Event April 20. Also placing among the areas top 10 were the DSHS Livestock Judging Team in seventh place and the Horse Judging Team in 10th place. Other DSHS ag entries in the area event were: Entomology (12th place), Poultry (12th place), Floriculture (15th place), Vet Science (19th place) and Wildlife (26th place).
