Three relay teams, two individual female swimmers, and two individual male swimmers competed at the state swimming meet at the Lee and Joe Jamail University of Texas Swim Center on Feb. 15-16. The girls' team finished in 15th place out of the 55 teams that scored in 5A. The boys' team was in 22nd place out of 53 scoring teams.
Three Tiger swimmers placed in the top eight in the state finals. London Farris finished fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:53.26) and seventh in the 100 butterfly (58.73). Lydia Evans was fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.15) and eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:14.07). On the boys' side Danny Henry was fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:42.19).

At the state meet, head swimming coach Andrea McCarthy was recognized as the 2017-18 National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Girls Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year. The DSHS girls' team was the 5A State Champion in 2018.
