A school-record 12 Dripping Springs High School choir students qualified for area after placing in the top five of their respective voice parts at pre-area auditions on Tuesday at Anderson High School in Austin. 

A total of 24 DSHS students, also a school record, advanced to pre-area after competing at the Region 18 auditions in October. Area auditions will take place on Saturday, Jan. 6 in San Antonio where students will compete for a spot in one of the three Texas All-State Choirs.
