Kane Named THSCA Volleyball Coach of the Year
February 14, 2023
Dripping Springs High School head volleyball coach Michael Kane was named the inaugural Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) 2022 Volleyball Coach of the Year, the organization announced in a presentation held at the high school campus on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Kane guided the Tigers to the 2022 UIL 6A State Championship, the program’s third title and the second under Kane. While making its debut season in Class 6A, Dripping Springs finished with a 43-13 record to tie for the third-most wins in school history. He became the school’s winningest coach, in any sport, in August with his 442nd victory and has compiled more than 470 victories in 13 seasons.
In January, Kane was named the THSCA Region 8 6A Coach of the Year to become a finalist for THSCA Coach of the Year.
Each THSCA member is offered a chance to nominate a head coach and/or assistant coach for an opportunity to be named a THSCA Regional Coach of the Year. After naming the regional winners, the THSCA Awards Committee selects the THSCA Coach of the Year in each sport, regardless of classification. Each winner is then submitted to the National High School Athletic Coaches Association for consideration for the National Coach of the Year in their sport.
