DSHS Senior Places Third in Persuasive Speaking at UIL State Meet

Dripping Springs High School senior Lizzie Galassini placed third in Persuasive Extemporaneous Speaking at the UIL State Meet in Austin on Wednesday, May 25.

 

Making her second-straight appearance at the state meet, Galassini was one of six students in the field of 12 to advance to the final round. Leander High School’s Ishika Bhasin claimed the state title while Pflugerville Hendrickson’s Audrey Fife placed second.

 

Galassini concludes a decorated speech and debate career at DSHS, finishing as a three-time state champion in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) Bus Safety Speech Contest in addition to being named the overall state winner in 2022. She also placed sixth at the UIL State Congress Tournament back in January. In 2022, she was a Texas Forensics Association (TFA) state qualifier in World Schools Debate, Congressional Debate and Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking. Galassini was a three-time TFA state qualifier in Congressional Debate.
