Eleven DSHS Seniors Sign National Letters of Intent

Eleven Dripping Springs High School seniors signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to continue their athletic careers at the next level: swimmers John Clewett, Grace Lee, Logan Mauck, and Joseph Parsons, baseball players Sam Agajanian and Nico Ruedas, cross country/track athletes Karsten Bobb and Marleena Mickel, volleyball players Annabelle Crowder and Ryann Frontera, and lacrosse player Ryan Williamson.

 

John Clewett, Swimming, Grinnell College (Iowa)

John Clewett is a two-year letterwinner for the Dripping Springs High School swim team. He recently qualified for the Region V-5A Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley. In 2021, Clewett was a regional qualifier in the 100-yard breaststroke, helping the Tigers to a district and regional championship. He is the son of Heather and Mark Clewett and plans to major in computer science. Coach: Mike Hoskovec.

 

Grace Lee, Swimming, McMurry University

Grace Lee is a four-year letterwinner for the DSHS swim team and is serving as a team captain for the 2021-22 season. She qualified for the Region V-5A Championships last weekend in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard freestyle. As a freshman, Lee was a regional qualifier in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. She is the daughter of Nichol and Tim Lee. Coach: Mike Hoskovec.

 

Logan Mauck, Swimming, Oklahoma Christian University

Logan Mauck is a three-year letterwinner for the DSHS swim team and is serving as team captain for the 2021-22 season. She is a three-time regional qualifier, recently qualifying for the Region V-5A Championships in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Keith Mauck, and will be joining her brother, Quinn, on Oklahoma Christian University swim team. Coach: Mike Hoskovec.

 

Joseph Parsons, Swimming, Brandeis University (Massachusetts)

Joseph Parsons is a three-year letterwinner for the DSHS swim team. He recently qualified for the Region V-5A Championships in four events and captured a district title as part of the 200-yard medley relay. He finished second at district in the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay, and placed third in the 100-yard freestyle. As a junior, Parsons was a state qualifier in the 400-yard freestyle relay. He is the son of Amie and Brandon Parsons, and will be pursuing a neuroscience degree. Coach: Mike Hoskovec.

 

Sam Agajanian, Baseball, Phoenix College (Arizona)

Sam Agajanian is a two-year letterwinner at third base and two-time academic all-district selection for the Tiger baseball team. He made 15 starts during the 2021 season, helping DSHS to a school-record 30 wins and its first regional finals appearance in 23 years. He is the son of Bryann and Sam Agajanian, and plays for the Austin Boom organization in the summer. Coach: Chris Payne.

 

Nico Ruedas, Baseball, Tyler Junior College

Nico Ruedas is a three-year letterwinner for the Tiger baseball team, appearing as a starting pitcher and shortstop. In 2021, he recorded more than 90 strikeouts on the mound to earn all-district second team honors and help DSHS to a regional finals appearance. In his career, Ruedas has more than 60 starts, and is a two-time academic all-district honoree. He is the son of Amy and Dirk Ruedas, and plays summer ball for the Lonestar Baseball Club. Coach: Chris Payne.

 

Karsten Bobb, Cross Country/Track, Emory University (Georgia)

Karsten Bobb was a four-year letterwinner for the DSHS girls’ cross country team. She qualified for the UIL State Meet all four years and placed 10th individually to help the Tigers finish third in 2021. As a freshman, she was the district cross country champion. Bobb is a three-year letterwinner on the track, qualifying for the regional meet in the 1600 meters as a freshman. She was named a Commended Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Program in October of 2021, and currently ranks first in the DSHS Class of 2022. In November, Bobb was recognized as the Female Heisman High School Scholarship winner for the state of Texas. She is the daughter of Heather and Brian Bobb. Coach: Kourtney Morris.

 

Marleena Mickel, Cross Country/Track, University of Oklahoma

Marleena Mickel is a four-year letterwinner for the Tigers in cross country and track. She is a four-year state qualifier in cross country, helping DSHS to a third-place finish in 2021. On the track, Mickel qualified for the state meet in the 3200 meters as a freshman and was an area qualifier in the event as a junior. She is the daughter of Susie and Chip Mickel. Coach: Kourtney Morris.

 

Annabelle Crowder, Volleyball, Truman State (Missouri)

Annabelle Crowder was a three-year letterwinner for the DSHS volleyball team. During her career, she helped the Tigers to three state playoff appearances with two trips to the regional finals and a state semifinal showing in 2020. Crowder has consistently ranked among the top outside/opposite hitters for the Tigers, amassing more than 500 kills in her career to twice earn all-district honors. She played club volleyball for Austin Performance and Austin Skyline. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Alex Crowder. Coach: Michael Kane

 

Ryann Frontera, Volleyball, Queens College (New York)

Ryann Frontera was a two-year varsity letterwinner for the Tiger volleyball team. As a setter, she helped DSHS to a state semifinal appearance in 2020 and regional final showing in 2021, earning all-district honors both seasons. Frontera has played club volleyball for Austin Juniors, Austin Skyline, and SA Juniors. She is the daughter of Paige and Roberto Frontera. Coach: Michael Kane.

 

Ryan Williamson, Lacrosse, Eastern University (Pennsylvania)

Ryan Williamson is a four-year letterwinner for the Dripping Springs High School lacrosse team. In 2021, he was named an all-district honorable mention selection as a midfielder. He is serving as a team captain for the 2022 squad. He is the son of Joanna Schmid and Eric Williamson. Coach: Bill Cafferata.
