Three Dripping Springs High School students qualified for the UIL Orchestra State Solo and Ensemble Contest based on their performances at the UIL Region 18 competition on Saturday, Jan. 29, at Akins High School in Austin.

Seniors Lucy Elizarraras, Sophia Fisher and Kayla Stradling received Superior Ratings and advanced to the state contest on violin. The state competition will be held in May in Austin; a date has yet to be determined.

Freshman Corbin Meyer (violin) and sophomore Kira Granberry (viola) also received a Superior Rating.
