Nine Dripping Springs High School choir students qualified for the area round of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State auditions on Nov. 16 in Austin. A total of 16 DSHS students participated in the event after qualifying for the pre-area round based on their performances at the regional competition in October.

Students advancing to the area round are: Portia Schaeffer-Preston (Soprano 1), Anika Chalak (Soprano 2), Abby Wingrin (Alto 1), Sloane Ruley (Alto 1), Michelle Hinojosa (Alto 1), Kate Nolen (Alto 2), Colin Tuohy (Tenor 1), Jonathan Jensen (Tenor 2) and Brody Lane (Bass 2).

The area competition will be held Jan. 8 at Reagan High School in San Antonio.
