DSISD Schools to Honor Veterans

Many Dripping Springs ISD campuses will be holding events to recognize Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 10, and Thursday, Nov. 11. Veterans from all branches of military service, as well as families of students, are welcome to attend. Campus visitors should stop by the front office for a visitor’s badge. A complete list of events can be found below.

 

Cypress Springs Elementary
Thursday, Nov. 11, 8:30 a.m., Front Entrance
Performers: CSE Choir, fourth-grade students
Veterans are welcome to come and sit in the outdoor music learning space to watch the performance. 


Dripping Springs Elementary
Thursday, Nov. 11, 8:30 a.m., Front Entrance
Performers: Students will sing songs and read poems.
Speaker: Retired Lieutenant Colonel Darrell Debish
Flag Ceremony: Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts


Rooster Springs Elementary
Thursday, Nov. 11, 9:00 a.m., Outside North Entrance
Speaker: Captain Martin Lindig, USMC
Music: Third-grade students
Flag Ceremony: Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts


Sycamore Springs Elementary
Thursday, Nov. 11, 8:00 a.m., SSE Playground

Speakers: Principal Kirsten Bloomfield, fifth-grade student
Refreshments will be served for veterans and their families at the front entrance following the ceremony. Chairs will be available for veterans and their families.

 

Walnut Springs Elementary
Thursday, Nov. 11, 8:15 a.m., Outdoor Amphitheater

Performers: Pre-K and fifth-grade students will sing.
Students will greet veterans and their families with posters, flags, thank you notes, and poems among other activities.

 

Dripping Springs Middle School
Wednesday, Nov. 10, 11:10 a.m.
DSMS will hold a luncheon for veterans in the cafeteria, and the DSMS choir will perform several songs.


Sycamore Springs Middle School
Thursday, Nov. 11, 8:15 a.m.
The SSMS choir and band will greet students in the hallways with patriotic music. All students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue in honor of our veterans. 

 

Dripping Springs High School
Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m., Tiger Stadium

Performers: DSHS Chamber Choir with the national anthem; DSHS band members Madelynn Glass and Dylan Saculla with the playing of Taps
Flag Ceremony: Boy Scout Troop 101
Speaker: Retired Colonel Charles Catoe, Air Force
Veterans in attendance are welcome to stay for a luncheon in their honor following the ceremony. Parking will be available near the stadium for veterans.
