DSHS Ties For Seventh in UIL Lone Star Cup

LSCDripping Springs High School finished in a tie for seventh place with 74 points in the 2020-21 UIL Lone Star Cup standings in Conference 5A. The final standings will become official on July 1. The DSHS point total was just two points out of fifth place, a spot shared by Cedar Park High School and Lucas Lovejoy High School with 76 points each; the Tigers were tied with Frisco Wakeland High School in seventh.

 

The Tigers recorded another successful year, highlighted by the girls’ soccer team winning the state championship. Volleyball advanced to the state semifinals and girls’ cross country captured a fourth-place finish at the state meet.

 

Football, team tennis, boys’ basketball, boys’ soccer, softball and baseball were also post-season qualifiers.

 

The Lone Star Cup awards points based on a school's team performance in district and state championships in the following: team tennis, cross country, marching band, volleyball, robotics BEST, football, Congress, spirit, swimming and diving, wrestling, mariachi, film, basketball, robotics FIRST, soccer, academics, one-act play, theatrical design, track and field, golf, tennis, softball, and baseball.

 

Point totals for DSHS were as follows: team tennis (4), girls’ cross country (4), volleyball (12), football (4), marching band (4 – from 2019 since state competition is held every two years), boys’ basketball (4), boys’ soccer (10), girls’ soccer (18), softball (4) and baseball (10).

 

The seventh-place Lone Star Cup finish ties for the fifth-highest in school history. It is the fourth straight year DSHS has finished in the top 10 (excluding the 2019-20 school year, which was not awarded).
