Health and Safety Update
May 14, 2021
Throughout the pandemic, Dripping Springs ISD has been committed to providing the safest possible environment for all students and staff. As a district, we have continued to monitor conditions and data related to COVID-19 and safety protocols. Knowing that COVID safety protocols, including the requirement for wearing facemasks, are important to our community, this topic will be addressed at a special called meeting of the Board of Trustees on Thursday, May 20, at 12:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Dripping Springs High School. The posted agenda item is “Consideration of District Masking Requirements for Summer and Fall 2021.”
Nationally, some new developments related to COVID-19 have occurred this week. Early in the week, it was announced that the Pfizer vaccine has been approved for and is available for those 12 years of age and older. That change creates a new opportunity for students who are 12-15 years of age to be vaccinated. Local vaccination opportunities can be found at haysinformed.com.
On Thursday afternoon, the CDC also announced updated guidelines for those who have been vaccinated regarding facemask use. Throughout the pandemic, guidance from the CDC, the Texas Education Agency, and the Hays County Health Department has influenced our district protocols. We have not yet received updated information from TEA or Hays County.
The district looks forward to continuing to work together with our stakeholders to provide a safe and productive learning environment for our students.
