Dripping Springs High School junior Lizzie Galassini captured the state title for her grade level in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) School Bus Safety Speech Contest. Galassini won the event for the second time after placing first as a freshman.
The annual TAPT contest provides an opportunity for high school students to prepare and present an original oration to convey the given school bus safety topic for the year. This year’s topic was “Be Safe – Know the Danger Zone!” Students also compete for a chance at one of 12 cash prizes.
Galassini advanced to the state competition after claiming first place at the Region 13 competition.
Galassini was named a National Speech and Debate Association Academic All-American in February. She recently advanced to the UIL State Meet in Persuasive Extemporaneous Speaking after taking first-place honors at the regional meet. Galassini was also a state qualifier this year in Congressional Debate at the Texas Forensics Association State Tournament.
