Ten DSHS Choir Students Advance to State Competition

March 12, 2021

Ten Dripping Springs High School choir students qualified for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest following their performances at the regional competition March 11 at Hays High School.

Students were required to memorize and perform a piece before a judge. The 10 DSHS students that advanced to state earned a Superior Rating (the top score) on their Class 1 solos, which is the most difficult level.

Earning a Superior Rating were seniors Josie Mau, Kyndal Miethke, Alyssa Nimocks, Alyssa Schaefer and Claire Tole, juniors Camila Gutierrez and Sloan Handley, and sophomores Kate Nolen, Portia Schaeffer-Preston and Cole Thomas.

The students will compete virtually in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest in May.
