Eleven DSHS Students Are DECA State Finalists; Six Advance to International Competition

A record 11 Dripping Springs High School DECA students advanced to the state finals in their respective events while six students qualified for the international competition.


Those being named international qualifiers were Gracie Johnson in Food Marketing, Teagan Krewson in Entrepreneurship, Eli Craddock and Jackson Kaiser in Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team Decision-Making, Margot Heltzel in Principles of Finance, and Clara Smartt in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.


The five students who were named state finalists were Dominic Gearing and Phillip Olson in Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Perri Parnell and Landry Puryear in Travel and Tourism Team Decision-Making, and Emily Bergeron in Hotel and Lodging Management.


The international DECA competition will be held virtually in April.


A total of 28 DSHS students qualified for the state competition based on their performances at the district meet, the second-most in school history.


DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
