DSHS Swim & Dive Teams Capture First Place at Regional Championships

girls team The Dripping Springs High School swimming and diving teams swept the Region V-5A Championship titles last weekend while nine team members qualified for the Texas UIL State Meet in six events.

 

The girls' team totaled 324 points to edge out host Friendswood High School by 39 points for the regional title. Audrey Wilson, Anna Hoskovec, Savannah Karas and the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay each punched tickets to state with their performances.

 

Wilson earned a second-place finish in One-Meter Diving with 298.5 points. Hoskovec also recorded a runner-up finish with a time of 5:11.51 in the 500-Yard Freestyle. Karas timed 58.59 in the 100-Yard Butterfly to finish fifth. Hoskovec and Karas joined Riley Dalton and Julia Carter in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay, clocking 3:39.19 for second place and a state berth.

 

The boys' team compiled 309 points to finish 32 points ahead of runner-up Georgetown High School.boys team

 

Quinn Mauck qualified for state in three events, earning fourth place in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 52.09 and fifth in the 200-Yard Individual Medley with 1:56.13. He also joined Brendan Burt, Gage Hembree and Joseph Parsons for a second-place finish in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:19.04 to advance to state.

 

The Texas UIL Class 5A Girls State Meet will be held Feb. 20 at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio while the boys state meet will take place Feb. 27 at the same location.
