Elementary Leadership Appointments Approved
January 26, 2021
At the Jan. 25 meeting, the Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees approved two key administrative positions at the elementary level: Kristen Ray as the DSISD Director of Elementary Education and Kellie Raymond as principal of Cypress Springs Elementary, DSISD's fifth elementary school.
In Ms. Ray’s new position in the Department of Learning and Innovation, she will provide leadership and coordination for an aligned and articulated instructional program among all elementary campuses within the district, including responsibilities in the area of curriculum and professional development.
Ms. Ray joined the district in 2017 and opened the Sycamore Springs Elementary campus, serving the SSE community as principal. Previously she was employed for three years as a senior consultant for The Leader in Me, which is part of the Franklin Covey Education Division. Ms. Ray began her career in education at Roosevelt ISD where she taught first grade in addition to serving as a Title 1 reading teacher. From there she moved to North East ISD as a second-grade teacher. She continued for an additional 12 years at North East ISD, serving as both assistant principal and principal for several different campuses.
Ms. Ray earned her bachelor’s degree in human development from Texas Tech University and her master’s degree in educational administration from Wayland Baptist University.
“It has been an incredible honor over the past several years to play a small part in creating such a special place of learning at Sycamore Springs Elementary,” said Ms. Ray. “I am thankful for the opportunity I have been given to impact elementary education across the district here in DSISD and look forward to working alongside our amazing educators, leaders, and students.”
Ms. Raymond is in her sixth year as the principal at Dripping Springs Elementary after serving as the assistant principal at Walnut Springs Elementary for six years. She began her career in education at Austin ISD’s Cunningham Elementary in 2003, teaching first grade. She continued her education journey in 2006, when she joined the DSISD team. Ms. Raymond taught third grade at both Dripping Springs Elementary and Rooster Springs Elementary before moving into an administrative role.
Mrs. Raymond earned both her bachelor’s (dance/geography) and master’s (educational administration) degrees from Texas State University.
“It has been an honor to serve at DSE and we have so much to be proud of what we have accomplished together,” said Ms. Raymond. “Being named principal of the new elementary school provides a growth opportunity for me as opening a new campus will be a new experience. I am looking forward to continuing to influence DSISD in a positive manner!”
Both Ms. Ray and Ms. Raymond will transition gradually into their new roles over the next several months, assuming some new duties while maintaining a leadership role at their current campus.
