Board Approves Firm to Assist in Superintendent Search

January 6, 2021

The Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of JG Consulting as the third-party firm to lead the district’s superintendent search process at a Jan. 4 special meeting. JG, which is based in Austin, has led more than 100 executive searches including those for superintendents at Austin ISD, McAllen ISD, and Hutto ISD. The DSISD board noted JG’s data-driven approach and use of virtual platforms to support the process, in announcing the selection.

The firm will manage the recruitment process in collaboration with the Board of Trustees. Following finalization of the search timeline, the position will be posted and applications will be accepted. According to the proposal presented at the meeting by JG Consulting’s CEO James Guerra, the board will likely begin interviewing candidates in late March, with the goal of naming a lone finalist in April. Opportunities for public input will be incorporated into the process.

“We are so excited to be working with JG Consulting to guide us through the critical process of identifying our next District leader who will lead Dripping Springs ISD into the future,” said Board President Barbara Stroud. “We look forward to receiving input from staff and community that will help guide us in the search process."

Currently Brett Springston is serving as the DSISD interim superintendent after stepping in when former superintendent Todd Washburn resigned in late October. Mr. Springston will remain in the position until the hiring process is complete and a permanent superintendent joins the district.
