New Special Services Director Announced

December 15, 2020

At the DSISD Board of Trustees meeting Dec. 14, Nadine Hogan was approved as the district’s new Director of Special Services. Ms. Hogan has been the Special Education Director at Hays CISD since 2018. She has nearly 21 years of experience in public education, all within a Special Education setting.

Ms. Hogan started her career as a Special Education teacher for five years before moving into an Autism Specialist role, which she held for four years. She has been in various Special Education leadership roles since 2009, including Hays CISD Coordinator of Autism Services, Assistant Director of Special Education, and her current role as director. The DSISD Special Services Department oversees many services: Special Education, dyslexia, Section 504, response to intervention, homebound, and the 18-plus ACCESS program.

“Ms. Hogan’s student-centered approach to public education, her passion for meeting all students’ educational needs, and her calm and confident demeanor will be a great asset to the Special Services Department and to the District,” said Interim Superintendent Brett Springston.

Ms. Hogan holds a Master of Arts in Human Services and Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She is certified as a PK-12 Special Education Teacher, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

The position has been held the past two years by Susan Maxey, who is retiring.
