Construction Update: September 2020
September 18, 2020
The district continues to make progress on projects from the 2018 bond program. Below is a summary of the status of current construction.
DSHS: The CTE/science classroom wing is complete and in use! The district’s project team will work through minor “punch list” items with the contractor.
Transportation Center: Renovation and expansion of the DSISD Transportation Center is underway. The interior of the building has been cleared out and underground work has been done for utility lines. The foundation is being laid to accommodate expansion of the mechanic shop; exterior paving also is occurring. Then, structural modifications will be made and many exterior windows and doors will be replaced. After structural modifications, interior framing of walls will occur and mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins will take place.
Elementary #5: Work on the building foundation is ongoing, as well as underground electrical and plumbing work. In addition, storm sewers, wastewater lines, and concrete retaining walls are being installed. Once the foundation is complete, concrete tilt wall panels will start going up, site utilities will be completed, and geothermal wells will be drilled. Geothermal drilling is ongoing.
Walnut Springs Relocation/DSMS Renovations: New wastewater lines were installed and activated, and the former wastewater treatment plant was decommissioned and removed. In addition, several small buildings near the back of the property were removed. The foundation is being laid for the new elementary school, and underground plumbing and electrical work is being one. The next steps will be tilt wall panels, and completion of site utilities. Geothermal well work has started.
Projects that have been completed are: Dripping Springs Elementary renovations and furniture upgrades, turf/track replacement, and Rooster Springs Elementary renovations.
