May Board Election Moved to November
March 24, 2020
At the March 23 meeting, the DSISD Board of Trustees approved a resolution to move the May 2 Board election to Nov. 3, 2020 because of the Coronavirus pandemic. This action was taken in accordance with Governor Abbott’s proclamation suspending certain provisions of the Texas Election Code to allow all local political subdivisions that are using a May 2, 2020 uniform election date to postpone their election to a Nov. 3, 2020, uniform election date.
Five candidates filed to run for two positions on the Dripping Springs ISD Board of Trustees. They are (in alphabetical order): Lori Broughton, Stephanie Holtzendorf, Ron Jones, Barbara Stroud, and Jon Thompson.
As a result of the action, the terms of current trustees Barbara Stroud and Ron Jones will continue until November. The terms of those elected in November will run through May of 2023. The ballot will remain the same; the filing period will not be re-opened.
The motion passed 5-0-2, with Mrs. Stroud and Mr. Jones abstaining.
The voter registration deadline for the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 5, 2020. Early voting is scheduled for Oct. 19-20, 2020.
