DSHS Senior Chase Warden Wins Second Consecutive State Wrestling Title; 11 Others Compete at State Meet

Dripping Springs High School senior Chase Warden capped off his high school career with a second consecutive state wrestling title at the 5A State Wrestling Meet in Cypress Feb. 21-22, 2020. Warden hasn't been defeated while competing for the Tigers in the past two years. In addition to the state titles his senior and junior seasons, Warden finished in second place at state as a sophomore, and third as a freshman. He has signed to wrestle collegiately for Campbell University in North Carolina.

In addition to Warden, DSHS sent 11 other wrestlers to the state meet. Juniors Zach Eveleth and Christian Prehar won their opening matches to advance in the championship bracket before being defeated. Both wrestlers scored points toward the team total by winning a match. Junior Luke Norton won a match in the consolation bracket to also score points. As a team, the DSHS boys finished in 17th place. For the girls' team, junior Cat Miller won a match in the consolation bracket to become the first DSHS girl to score a point at the state meet.

Also competing at the state meet were: Alyson Brownson-Welch, Colby Collins, Brodie Dyer, Jefferson Guerrero, Michael Gutierrez, Daniel Mayes, and Micah Ribera.
