Twelve DSHS Wrestlers Qualify for State Meet; Boys Win Regional Title

Twelve Dripping Springs High School wrestlers qualified for the state meet by placing in the top four of their respective weight classes at the Region IV-5A meet in Austin on Feb. 14-15. Leading the state-qualifying contingent were regional champions Micah Ribera at 126 pounds, Chase Warden at 152 pounds, and Luke Norton at 170 pounds. In addition, Warden was also named Wrestler of the Meet for the second consecutive year and head coach Joe Kirksey was the boys Coach of the Meet. The boys team finished as regional champions, earning enough points from individual results to finish 69.5 points ahead of second-place Cedar Park High School. The girls team finished tied for 11th with 44 total team points.

Brodie Dyer - 2nd place (132 pounds)
Jefferson Guerrero - 2nd place (160 pounds)
Christian Prehar - 2nd place (220 pounds)
Zach Eveleth - 3rd place (138 pounds)
Daniel Mayes - 3rd place (145 pounds)
Michael Gutierrez - 3rd place (182 pounds)
Colby Collins - 4th place (195 pounds)

Girls
Cat Miller - 2nd place (119 pounds)
Alyson Brownson-Welch - 4th place (128 pounds)

 

The 5A state meet will be held Feb. 21-22 at the Berry Center in Cypress.
