Student Bowlers Compete at Special Olympics Event

Dripping Springs ISD was represented by 10 athletes at the 2020 Special Olympics Winter Bowling Games Feb. 6-9 in Austin. Six singles competed on Feb. 6 in their respective age groups:
  • Ben Cantu (third-grade division): fifth place
  • Brenden Willis (eighth-grade division): third place
  • Kylie Euston (ninth-grade division): eighth place
  • Reid Shields (18+ division): second place
  • Brant Higgerson (18+ division): second place
  • Miguel Standridge (18+ division): fifth place
 
On Sunday, Feb. 9, two Unified doubles teams competed. The doubles teams include one Special Olympics athlete with a Unified partner. Students Myriel Torres and Susan Zepada teamed up to win first place and Trinity Turner and Bella Froidcoeur received second place. Also at the competition, Trinity Turner was awarded the 2020 Winter Games Inspirational Athlete Award.
