First Long-Range Facility Planning Committee Meeting is Held

November 11, 2019

The first meeting of the 2019-20 Long-Range Facility Planning Committee was held Nov. 7, 2019. The committee will consider important decisions to ensure that Dripping Springs ISD continues to serve all students with a personal and exceptional education over the next 5-10 years. The committee consists of 63 parents, community members and campus-level employees (both teachers and administrators); district-level administrators will participate as resources for the group but not as voting members. In addition, all members of the community are welcome to attend meetings as observers.

The meeting started with a welcome from Interim Superintendent Nola Wellman and introductions by committee members. DSISD Director of Facilities and Construction Clint Pruitt reviewed the work of last year’s LRFPC, then provided an update on progress for projects from the 2018 bond program. Assistant Superintendent Scott Drillette summarized the most recent demographic study (March 2018) and shared this year’s student enrollment. Dr. Wellman then outlined the charge of this year’s committee, and shared information about the process and projected timeline. Executive Director of Communications Dale Whitaker explained how information about the committee’s work will be shared with the community and what tools the committee can use to gather input. Sycamore Springs Elementary Principal Kristen Ray led an exercise to develop norms for the committee, as well as collective commitments.  Dr. Wellman wrapped up the meeting by identifying actionable next steps to be completed before the next meeting.
