DSHS Choirs Students Qualify for Area Auditions

Eight members of the Dripping Springs High School Choir have advanced to the Area Auditions on Jan. 11, 2020 at Reagan HS in San Antonio after performing at the Region 18 Pre-Area Auditions on Nov. 12. The following students were ranked among the top-five chairs in their voice part, qualifying them for Area:

 

Claire Tole - 4th Chair Alto 1
Kaylee Cormack - 5th Chair Alto 1
Juliana Ussia - 3rd Alto 2
Daniel McIver - 3rd Chair Bass 1
Brody Lane - 3rd Chair Bass 2
Gavin Kirkup - 4th Chair Bass 2
Ethan Owens - 3rd Chair Tenor 1
Josh Tomashek - 4th Chair Tenor 2

 

DSHS also has three alternates:

Eliana Glenn - 6th Chair Alto 1
Ana Smith - 7th Chair Alto 2
Kyndal Miethke - 7th Chair Soprano 1

 

The eight who advanced and the three alternates came from a group of 20 students that qualified for the Pre-Area auditions from a Region Choir performance on Nov. 9 at the AISD Performing Arts Center under the direction of clinician Dr. Joey Martin of Texas State University.

 

The 20 students that qualified were: Tate Anderson, Arianna Bentz, Kaylee Cormack, Eliana Glenn, Sloan Handley, Isaiah Hoffman, Gavin Kirkup, Brody Lane, Daniel McIver, Kyndal Miethke, Ethan Owens, David Perez-Villarreyes, Kylin Richardson, Portia Schaeffer-Preston, Ella Schroeder, Ana Smith, Cole Thomas, Claire Tole, Josh Tomashek, and Juliana Ussia. Of those 20, four students were unable to audition because of illness.

 

The DSHS choir is under the direction of Courtney Neva.
