Veterans Day Programs

All seven schools in Dripping Springs ISD will recognize Veterans Day with assemblies. Six of the seven schools have events planned Monday, Nov. 11; Dripping Springs Middle School’s program is Thursday, Nov. 7. Veterans from all branches of military service, as well as families of students, are welcome to attend. Campus visitors should stop by the front office for a Visitor’s Badge. All programs include patriotic music and recognition of veterans. Other planned activities are listed below, with starting times and locations:

Dripping Springs Middle School, Nov. 7, 10:30 a.m., A Gym
Students from: Choir, Band, Dance and Theater will perform
Students from: Student Council will provide Veteran escort
Guest Speaker: Dr. Stewart Hilliard, Lackland Air Force Base
Special Veteran Guest - Yalla, Retired Military Working Dog
Lunch to be served to Veterans in the Cafeteria after program.


Walnut Springs Elementary, Nov. 11, 8:00 a.m., Gym
Fifth-grade students will read essays and perform patriotic songs. Special Guest Speaker: Angela Anthony, U.S. Air Force


Dripping Springs Elementary, Nov. 11, 8:30 a.m., B Gym
Guest speakers: Ronnie “Shorty” Barnett, Commander VFW 2933/Navy Veteran and Jonathan Becker, Master Sargent- Special Forces, retired.
Students will read poetry and sing patriotic songs.


Rooster Springs Elementary, Nov. 11, Cafeteria, 8:30 a.m. for preK-2nd and 9:30 a.m. for 3rd-5th
Students will share reflections and sing patriotic songs.
A reception for veterans will be held starting at 7:30 a.m. in Room C102.


Sycamore Springs Elementary, Nov. 11, 9:30 a.m., Gym
Fifth-grade students, SSMS Choirs, and SSMS Band will perform.
Veterans and their families are invited to the Learning Lounge after the program for coffee and donuts.


Sycamore Springs Middle School, Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m., Gym
Fifth-grade students, SSMS Choirs, and SSMS Band will perform.


Dripping Springs High School, Nov. 11, 12:00 p.m., Main Gym
Patriotic music will be performed by band, choir, and orchestra students.
Guest speaker: Captain David E. Koss, USN (Commanding Officer, ROTC University of Texas)
Veterans and their families are invited to lunch following the program.
