Long-Range Facility Planning to Begin

October 28, 2019

The Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee (LRFPC) will begin meeting in November to continue planning for the next 5-10 years of student growth in Dripping Springs ISD. The LRFPC serves a critical need for the future of our district, as important decisions will be made over the next year to ensure that Dripping Springs ISD continues to serve all students with a personal and exceptional education.

During October, applications were accepted for membership in the LRFPC. The membership of those who attended meetings in this capacity last year carried over, and new members were added. The committee has representation from staff, parents and community members who reside in various parts of the district. While the committee consists of 70 members, all members of the community may attend meetings.

The LRFPC’s first meeting is Thursday, Nov. 7, in the DSHS Cafeteria from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and will continue to meet through April. The other fall date is Dec. 12, 2019. The goal of the committee is to reach a final consensus regarding future district facilities and the timing of a potential future bond. The committee will make a presentation to the DSISD Board of Trustees with a recommendation following the completion of their work next spring.

Last year three meetings were held regarding long-range facility planning. Topics covered included: an overview and timeline, high school models/options, demographics, and progress reports on the 2018 bond.

Updates will be posted on the DSISD website at: Summaries and links from last year’s three meetings also are available.
